High School Assessment: English
English Assessment

 Introduction

The high school English Public Release Forms have been released by MSDE each year in the fall to provide examples of how students will be assessed in English. The items included on these Public Release Forms measure students' knowledge of skills, processes and concepts as stated in the English Core Learning Goal indicators.

Only Public Release Forms since 2005 are currently available. The English assessment was changed in that year from a grade 9 English assessment to an assessment given at the completion of a student's second English course, typically grade 10.

For each item, you can see which indicator it measured, take mini-assessments online, print the test form, view the rubric, listen to an explanation of the rubric and anchor papers used to score the constructed responses, and practice scoring actual student responses.
