Read "Tackling the Trash" and answer the following question.
Choose one of Chad's qualities. Explain how you or someone you know displays that same quality. Use information from the article in your explanation. Write your answer in your answer book.

Annotation, Using the Rubric: This response demonstrates an understanding of the complexities of the text. The student infers that Chad is motivated by selflessness: "not self-centered." The student then compares this quality to his/her mother and uses text-relevant information to clarify how the two are similar: "(Chad) cleans up…rivers with knowing the fact that he won't be rewarded. She (my mother) does so many things for me knowing that she will not benefit from any of it. This is why she is not self-centered just like Chad."
