Other Protocols
The Annenberg Institute for School Reform (AISR) has created the Looking at Student Work Web site to explore the general use of various protocols for looking at student work. The site has a number of useful resources for leading an examination of student work including a Virtual Protocol which recreates an actual Collaborative Assessment Conference in which teachers looked at two pieces of writing from the same student. They also include Guidelines for Learning From Student Work, Facilitation Tips, and Questions for Reflecting on Protocols.
Looking Collaboratively at Student Work: An Essential Toolkit is another web site that provides information about protocols for examining student work. This Coalition of Essential Schools web site provides a number of useful protocols including the Tuning Protocol, the Collaborative Assessment Conference, and a Constructivist Protocol.
Another resource for looking at student work is Guidelines for Looking at Student Work, produced by Philadelphia public school teachers who have described guidelines to help teacher teams get started with a process of inquiry based on the student work generated on the standard that they were teaching in a unit of study.
