![[Oyster Gardening - For Restoration & Education]](../images/garden.gif)
In addition to the satisfaction of growing oyster seed for restoration efforts, oyster gardeners make a larger contribution to those efforts by collecting data. Each participant measures and count samples from their oyster garden. In addition to measuring the length of oysters you will collect data on oyster mortality by counting the number of living and dead oysters in a subsample.
Data from these measurements are submitted to a central location where it is added to data from all other oyster gardening sites within the state. Data collection sheets, a metric ruler and a sampling schedule are given to each participant. More frequent data collection is encouraged and will give the participant more insight on the dynamics of a healthy growing oyster community.
A map of locations is currently under development.
Compute and plot oyster growth and survival statistics by river.
