Good science lessons:
- Are based on the Indicators from the Maryland Learning Outcomes
(K-8) or
Skills & Processes Goals and Concept Goals (9-12)
(The indicators for the skills and processes are combined with the
indicators from the concept goal.)
- Follow the 5E lesson model structure
- Include Writing to Inform and Writing to Persuade Prompts
- Include Reading to be Informed and Reading to Perform a Task Stance
Questions (when a reading is included)
- Integrate with Mathematics, Social Studies, Health, Physical Education,
the Fine Arts, etc. (when possible)
- Include Brief and Extended Constructed Response Questions within
Lesson
- Include Selected Responses within Lesson when appropriate
- Include use of rubrics or scoring tool by students and teachers
- Can be easily modified and implemented by a classroom teacher
