School Improvement in Maryland

Early Childhood Initiatives

Find an Accredited Early Childhood Program in your county.

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Early Childhood Accreditation Project enables public and non-public early childhood programs in the state of Maryland obtain voluntary state or national accreditation. Early Childhood programs in Maryland have the choice of pursuing state or national accreditation. MSDE recognizes the following national programs: National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA), and National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC). Programs that pursue MSDE accreditation use the Standards for Implementing Quality Early Childhood Programs to rate and improve the quality of their early learning services. These standards identify and define quality program services in administration, program operation, and home and community partnerships.
